Shumaiah lives with her grandmother at Jemba Village. She is a paternal orphan whose father died in an accident. Her mother is disabled, and her grandmother works as a peasant farmer on her own piece of land. She struggles a lot to ensure that she educate her grandchildren but sometimes she fails because she has many of them. Shumaiah joined school very late, which is why she is still in P1 at her age. Because of lack of money to pay school fees and participate in class, she needs some help so that she can become a medical doctor.
